Wildfires that have devastated parts of southern Europe have ravaged the Spanish and Greek countrysides and forced around 1000 people from their homes on Sardinia, an Italian island.Officials are still assessing the extent of the damage, though an estimate of the burned area is approximately 20,000 hectares.
